Solar Energy is radiant energy that's manufactured by sunlight. Every single day sunlight radiates, or emits, a tremendous volume of energy. The sun's direct sunlight radiates more power in one second than everyone has consumed since the beginning of time!
The energy on the Sun comes from within the sun itself. Just like other stars, the sun is a large ball of gases--mostly hydrogen and helium atoms.
The hydrogen atoms inside the sun's core combined to produce helium and generate energy in the method termed as nuclear fusion.
On nuclear fusion, the sun’s immensely high-pressure and temperature trigger hydrogen atoms to come apart and their nuclei (the central cores of the atoms) to merge or combine. Four hydrogen nuclei merge to become one helium atom. However the helium atom contains less mass compared to the four hydrogen atoms that joined. Some matter is lost over nuclear fusion. The wasted matter is emitted on space as radiant energy.
It takes an incredible number of years for that energy inside the sun’s core to make its way to the solar surface, then somewhat over eight minutes to travel the 93 million miles to earth. The sun's energy travels towards the earth in a speed of 186000 miles/sec, the speed of the sun's rays.
Simply a small portion of the energy radiated from the sun into space hits the earth, one part in 2 billion. Still this quantity of energy is immense. Every day adequate energy hits United States of America to supply the nation’s energy needs for one and a half years!
Exactly where does this all energy go to?
Roughly Fifteen percent on the sun’s energy which hits the earth, is mirrored back in the space. Another 30 percent is used to evaporate water, which, when lifted in the atmosphere, generates rainfall. Solar energy is also absorbed by plants, the land, so as the oceans. The rest might be utilized to supply our Solar Power needs.
