Exploring Simple Conveyor Systems In Children's Toys

A conveyor is an apparatus that transports stuff from one location to another. It’s commonly used in big industries to make their work flow smooth, but a conveyor is a very versatile type of machinery that can also be featured in fun children’s toys.

For a lot of toddlers’ toys, a hand-cranked conveyor unit is typically used. Those little picture boxes (primitive television, as what many people call them) that move images when kids crank this little knob is a wonderful illustration. The required manipulation of a small toy feature is fantastic for developing fine motor skills in kids; additionally, it exposes them to the universal action of responding to a stimulus to generate the effect which they want. Who would have thought that a rudimentary conveyor, as featured in technology news, could have a critical role in reinforcing a somewhat Pavlovian principle of cognitive growth in children? Many dinky children’s toys make use of a rudimentary conveyor belt incorporated with magnets to provide a more pleasurable play experience as kids no longer need to frequently prop play items back up, like those little ducks that travel down and up the stairs to the beat of cheesy background music.

There are more complex battery-operated or electrically-operated toys out there which also employ conveyor systems. Those miniature outer space stations which were incredibly popular during the eighties are making a comeback; they show the innovative transportation system that no longer requires “beings” to perform a lot of walking as there are conveyor systems fitted all over the place. This feature is exhibited in films like Star Wars (which, by the way, has its own play set which is also coveted by adult collectors), Wall-E, Meet the Robinsons and The Jetsons, among others.

Toy makers are likewise invested in giving children the experience of the “adult” world. Big, bulky work devices and tools used in big industries like building, food preparation and packaging have their operating smaller variants for children that like to pretend to be “working” adults. One popular plaything is the Playmobil Conveyor Belt with Mini Excavator which instantly exposes children to the field of building and engineering.

Another fun plaything that parents find instructional for their kids is the Play-Doh Mega Fun Factory that allows youngsters to extrude molded clay onto a conveyor belt to mimic a typical production operation of most production facilities. This only goes to show that a conveyor is an item of equipment which is extremely beneficial in various industries and people probably will discover more resourceful ways of utilizing it in the long run.
